This is the second release from Ritmic Records, a new Swiss label specialising in underground dance music. Bengston's own Tek Mix is a bassheavy stormer that should appeal to the darker breaks floors and tek house heads alike. It's catchy base hook comes off a dusty MS-20 synth and gives it a certain retro touch.
On remix duties we have Be&See, long time breakbeat DJ and producer from Switzerland. He has done remixes for several national bands and has had his first international breaks release on Ian Davy's Battle EP last year. Besides a busy DJ-schedule he works his arse off in the studio, currently writing a soundtrack for a Snowboard-Film. This mix shows why he is heralded as one of Switzerlands best breakbeat talents: He delivers a twisted, floorfilling breaks mix with tight edits, lots of changes, a bit acid here and there and uses the vocal to great effect. This mix has enjoyed the support from Phantom Beats, Stabilizer, Loes Lee and Scissorkicks (who included it for his Live project mix album on Canadian label 2Wars & a revolution).
Talented Swiss breakbeat artist Be&See turns in a blinding breaks remix of "The Meal" by Ritmic label boss Bengston. Making it into DJ mag's prestigious breaks& beats chart, with heavy support from the likes of DJ Hyper, Aquasky, Future Funk Squad, Scissorkicks (who licensed it for his latest mixed CD) and Mike & Charlie, this is set to be one of the biggest breaks tunes of the summer. Is it the happy upbeat summer vibe? The chunky upfront bassline? The "move ya body" vocal? The bubbly FX? All of this and more is what makes this so hard to resist. 4/5 Helix
