25.10.2010
The legendary Ritmic Records is back! After a 2 year hiatus, UFO is the first sign of life on the Ritmic imprint and at the same time forms the opener for a new series of sonic attacks to be released in due course.Join us now on your favorite network and stay updated on our updates! Vactrol: UFO [RR101](Original / Dub Mix / The Dogz Nadz Dubstep Remix)Release Date: 25 Oct 2010Vactrol (formerly known as Downpressor) delivers two huge objects of unknown origin which are based on a mind-boggling incident that occurred to him back in the summer of 1998: After being hijacked by a flying saucer and taken for a fascinating panoramic sightseeing flight, the UFO crashed right into his backyard swimming pool while approaching for landing. Miraculously, he survived and then managed to back-engineer the UFO's vactrol controlled propulsion and energy generation - hence his name - to design two incredible techhouse tracks which defy our currently accepted physics. The Dogz Nadz approaches the UFO phenomenon from a "nuts-and-bolts" craft perspective and turns it into into a filthy, nasty dubstep monster which comes off like a rotating superconductor in a mercury-based plasma vortex. You don't wanna get caught in this one!

Orlando Menthol: Boomberry [RR013]Orlando Menthol is Simon Kallweit (Sound) and David Kohler (Vocals). Their diverse range of sounds found the way to the so called "Demotape Clinic" at M4Music, a Music festival and market in Zurich, where "Boomberry" won best electronic and best overall track in 2005. It is an original piece of of electronic music complete with analogue bass, hard hitting beats and the vocals of David. Orlando Menthol is also an excellent live act.
On remix duties we are happy to welcome Boogie Army to bring their own
special blend of big system breaks to this release. Boogie Army are
Captain Coma (Tilman Benecke) and Marten Horger from Germany. For this
remix they have teamed up with Illy The Kid, who injected some extra
fatness. They have had a string of top releases on Carepack and recent
remixes for Muto, Money Shot and Resin. Their gigs around Europe (and
Russia!) are legendary and probably only the start of a very promising
career!!

Downpressor: Oxygene [RR012]Second single from Downpressor sporting a rumbling baseline, tripped out sounds and a top breakdown. On the flip we included the long overdue Future Funk Squad Remix of Downpressor's "All We Know", a track that originally appeared on the classic "Swiss Tools EP". This version has been a secret exclusive for a long time with a few lucky people and finally gets the release it deserves.
A1 Oxygene (Original Mix) B1 All We Know (Future Funk Squad Remix) Quotes Plump DJs 9/10 "Fantastic remix from FFS - his best in a while" James Zabiela "Both sides are wicked!" DJ Hyper "The Ritmic joint is very cool!" Soul Of Man (Fingerlickin) Lovin' the A side on this powerfull shit, its made into Rushmore's box that's rare! Lovin this one the most out of all the tunes you sent me recently - played it at the weekend and it went off! Aquasky (Passenger) "liking both tracks , really like the break down in oxygen and the glens remix too ...i gotta 3 week tour of australia comming up so will be good chance to play them!" Superstyledeluxe (Muto) 8/10 "Future Funk Squad doing it for me. Rolls along well. All good stuff" Drumattic Twins (Fingerlickin) 7/10 "FFS mix - been playing a while off CDR solid breaks. Good package. Hello Bengston" Elite Force 8/10 "This is real quality. A really cool, deep slab of pulsing breakbeat which will slot nicely in my box" Jay Cunning original has got a real nice roll to it, he know how to lock down a tight groove. ffs rmixes takes a while to get ther but its nice when it drops Bill Vega 9/10 "All We Know Remix is a deep techy onslaught. Right up my alley!" SOTO 7.5/10 "Tight little mover an' no mistakin', Boss!" Taishan (Resin) 8/10 "Love that unique Downpressor sound!!" Jono Fernandez (Electrofly etc. AUS) 9/10 "Oxygen is awesome. Great crowd response! a lot of people are asking the name of the track." Angus Robinson (URB Mag, Release Rec.) "Superb release from the Swiss label, Ritmic. Oxygen is a funky tribal breaks tune with melodic elements and some raging synths. On the flip, Future Funk Squad remixes an older Downpressor tune into a funked-up tech electro workout." ED2000 (Dangerous Drums, Berlin) "know it all rmx is the one for me, and my favorite ffs rmx to date. playing this a lot! very nice!" DJ Killer (Natural, Spain) 8/10 "I Like Oxygen very much, good progression and production, ideal for one elegant session." Mole (Boombox Rec. / Undercover Mag) Switzerland's Ritmic label unleash the latest installment from Downpressor. This release sees DP head off on a real heads down progressive groove, with rumbling bass and lush keys, before the breakdown creeps in and sets the mood for what we consider to be Ritmic's finest release. FFS head straight for the jugular with twisted bass sounds & tight percussive patterns fighting for room on this floor shaking remix. But for us the original mix wins hands down. 4/5 Angus Robinson (Release Rec. / URB Magazine) Superb release from the Swiss label, Ritmic. Oxygen is a funky tribal breaks tune with melodic elements and some raging synths. On the flip, Future Funk Squad remixes an older Downpressor tune into a funked-up tech electro workout.

Be&See: Bag Dat! [RR011]After the success of ten Vinyl singles Ritmic unleashes the first artist single. It's by Swiss breakbeat pioneer Be&See. On the A side you'll find "Bag Dat!", a funky party tune complete with a mad banjo and a unique vocal hook that makes it stand out from the rest. On the flip we have the techy edged big system groover "Peach".
A1 Bag Dat! B1 Peach Quotes Hyper (Kilowatt) Quality as ever! Ph. Wegm¸ller (Facts) Good stuff, keep up the good work! G (Tango / Hungary) Bag Dat!: Hahahaha finally, the real funny music among the many, welcome to the world of drunken cowboys and country fans! Love it! Peach: Ojeeeee, peak time tune with percussion and some acid tricks, how I like. Mole (Boombox Rec. / Undercover Mag) The Swiss crew are back with a new artist & new release schedule promising plenty of beats for 2005! Be & See provide the listener with two very different cuts, the first being 'Bag Dat' with some rather strange big party beats featuring Banjo guitars and a rather manic vocal hook, that I'm sure you will not have witnessed before. 'Peach' on the other hand seems to keep things a bit more together with a real techy & tribal edge. Making for quite an interesting first release for swiss breaks pioneer Be & See dj dustbowl (filewile, mouthwatering CH) der rockt sehr geil, ist ja quasi ne single!!!! radio airplay judihui, gefällt mir sehr gut, mein favorit auf RRO11 ist aber peach, den find ich hammer.

Bengston: Jump! [RR010]The tenth release on Ritmic comes from Bengston, the label owner himself in the form of a funky punky floor rocker that has Summer hit written allover it! And if you thought the A Side was rocking. flip over to the B-Side.. which is pure Heavy Metal! Circuit Breaker hands in a storming weapon of a remix so heavy you'll need an extra record bag for it..!
A1 Jump! (Original Mix) B1 Jump! (Circuit Breaker Remix) Quotes Hyper (Kilowatt) Very nice as usual! Chunky as you like, good work! Soul Of Man (Fingerlickin) Wicked tune, definitely feeling this! 8/10 Don Mei (Resin Rec) What a wicked wicked release! Full of attitude, funk and dancefloor dynamism. Straight in the box! SOTO (Botchit) A-Side is solid, its always good to try something new and different ..well done!!!! Vandal (Plastic Raygun) Sounds great, definitely big room breaks. The remix is very metal :) 8/10 Mole (Boombox) Cool sounding beats & funky vocals make for a definite summer tune, will chart and support. 8/10 Phantom Beats (Plastic Raygun) Funky and rocking! Loes Lee (Moving Target NL) Summer tune! Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Rec. Hungary) Really well produced stuff, both sides. The orig's breakdown does great damage on the floor! Circuit Breaker is rocking as always! Great 12" for the hot dancefloors! thx! 7/10 Andrea Lai (Agatha Rome) I Hate it 'cause both sides are too good and I'll have to pick one! Well done!! 9/10 Liquid X (Essential Brussels) Awesome record, great job on that one. The best ritmic release to date! DJ Killer (Nätural Spain) Congratulations, this release is very good and very well produced. I like!! 7/10 G (Tango Hungary) Your 'Jump' is fuckin' great!!!!!! :))) This is a festival bomb! Mike Hogan (TTR, breakspoll etc.) Switzerland's breakbeat label reaches 10 releases with this single from the label boss Bengston. The Swiss toolz expert gets all jumpy, punky funky with this Pilgrem-esque floor-filler. TCR certainly have influenced the style, but the content is all original - slipping a daft punk style synth riff alongside some punky guitars and hard, funky breaks. The remix from circuit breaker is skinhead breakbeat - angry guitars and tough yobbo beats - this is gnarly breakbeat to mosh to. Partynews (July 2004) Label-Boss Bengston steuerte die Nr. 10 zum Katalog des international renommierten Ritmic-Labels bei: "Jump!". Der Breaks-DJ zündet die Tanzfläche mit punk- und Funk-Elementen an. Circuit Breaker (Viper Jive) auf der B-Seite geht gar Richtung Metal. (AM)

André Absolut: Northern Groove [RR009]At last: The corking Northern Groove made it onto Vinyl! Big tune alert as this track from one of Switzerlands most respected Progressive Producers will do a bit of damage to floors.
A1 Northern Groove (Original Mix) B1 Northern Groove (Downpressor Remix) Quotes John Digweed Original is AMAZING! James Zabiela This is absolutely fantastic! Dub Ting...! Rennie Pilgrem Like it, well produced as well.. Tayo Good... different.. I like this! Meat Katie Excellent, like both sides! Lurch (Knowledge) A big house tune with a big sound matched by a stunning breaks mix from downpressor. excellent production! Paul Arnold Both are strong and I will be playing Justin Rushmore (Soul Of Man) Good label - enjoying the output, this track works well General Midi Really feeling it, the downpressor is the one for me but the original rocks well! Lee Coombs Sounds quite chunky! Cedric Benoit (Lab Rok) Downpressor is the man! In my Bag! Aquasky I like the Downpressor Remix, nice. Tony Tay (Zouk Singapore) Really into the Downpressor Remix.. works the floor well! love it! 4/4 mode, turning in a stomping percussive mix for the housier floors.

Nick Karagua (feat. Legolath): Never [RR008]Never is a lush track by Nik Karagua from Germany featuring female vocalist Legolath on the mic. Remixes come from André Absolut (tripped out and punchy tech number) and Vandal who gives us a laid back electro groover.
A1 Never (André Absolut Dub) B1 Never (Original Mix) B2 Never (Vandal Remix) DJ Support Elite Force / Chris Fortier / Hardy Heller / Jo Mills / Darkglobe / Loes Lee (Moving Target NL) / Southpaw (Sinister)and more Quotes Progressive.nu (September 2003) Andre Absolut has already released material for the Sog and Sumsonic record labels and many top flight DJs have been supporting his progressive/tech house sound. Andre delivers a 4/4 take on ‘Never’ that stays in keeping with the style that he has already received praise for in the past. A dark, rumbling bassline, is accompanied by tight, rolling percussion alongside snippets of the vocal that are used only in part. As the track builds, various synth lines are also introduced and a few miniature breakdowns ensure that it would rock a crowd on a big sound system. The production is good and as I said I’m sure it would sound fat on a large system. Only complaint I have, is that perhaps a little more could be going on at times. Having said that, it is a dub mix, which probably explains it. Otherwise a nice track overall. The original version of ‘Never’ is by far and away the funkiest of the mixes on offer, boasting a fat breakbeat arrangement with hard hitting drums and a beefy bassline. Alongside this however, are emotional strings and the vocal, which is used in full (unlike the other two mixes). It rolls along very nicely and will keep you listening from start to finish. Having heard a previous remix from Sam Vandal for Phantom Beats (which was superb) I was very interested to listen to this particular version. Beginning with one of his trademark uplifting string arrangements, a dark yet quite funky bassline then creeps into proceedings, and sits alongside the strings nicely. Tight percussion, a beautiful long breakdown, and good use of the vocal make this particular remix a winner for me. A good, solid release from Ritmic, catering for a wide audience, with a very user friendly set of mixes. 4/5 Nrg Music Swiss breaks outfit Ritmic continue to make moves with their biggest release to date featuring mixes from the UK's Vandal and prog star Andre Absolut. Vandal's mix sounds like something Kimball or Icey would have dropped at Club Firestone or The Edge back in the day` with thick` uplifting chords anda rolling UK bassline riding Rennie Pilgrem-style beats. Think Newton's 'Orlando'. Prog jocks will love Absolut's mix which explores tech-house territory similiar to his previous SOG releases` with Sasha` Danny Howells and the Sumsonic guys already rumoured to be on this hidden gem.

rEalm: Ion [RR007]Ritmic continues to introduce more fresh talent, this time it’s the debut for Erik Magrini aka rEalm from Chicago. His influences are early industrial music, the legendary Wax Trax record label and the local underground music scene. When he eventually got into Djing he was voted one of Shure's "The Future Sound Of Chicago" DJ's in 2001.
The present track Ion shows the skills of studio wizard rEalm. He provides a lush set opener with epic string arrangements and snappy beats. Switzerlands producer of the moment, Be&See is on remix duty firing a breaks and a 4/4 version which are nothing less than brilliant! Full on dancefloor mayhem, influenced by people like Terminalhead or the Plump DJ’s and easily his best work to date! DJ Support: Moguai (charted at No.2!!) / Soul Of Man / Darkglobe / Loes Lee / Fine CutBodies / Kid Kenobi Quotes Nubreaks.com (August 2003) This is simply a great track. Start to finish, movement to movement, strings to beats, ALL GOOD. I got this on CDR a while ago, and immediately knew it'd own my headphones for the rest of this year. rEalm's original version is a rolling, lush, active track with groove & thrust to spare. The textures & sound programming are pristine, and the choice of sampled phrase is genius. Some people would grab a good sample such as this track's and beat it to death, but instead, rEalm constrains himself, and really puts it to use in the best possible places. The bass line & zippy pad action make for a tune that never grows old, and always keeps your attention. This track alone, even with the most horrendous remix on the flip, would earn a 5. Luckily, the flip's remix is just as good. Be&See rejig the entire cut to pound a bit harder, and lose much of the more atmospheric elements. Or at least, that's what it seems like at first. The real suprise is that while the track is heavier & driven by a truely unique and effective bassline, a BRILLIANT breakdown is waiting in the wings. Gentle strings and deep drums glide down into a freestyle snare workout (which has to be heard before you understand just how good it is), then the breakdown rushes back up into a full-on breakbeat frenzy and finishes out the cut. Check it out, you will like it. If I could give a 12" more than 5 'stars', this is one of them. BUY IT. Check Magazine Hungary (July 2003) The original stuff starts up with a very fine orchestral intro, keeping this deep but "headbanging" tendency to the end. The remixes were made by a Swiss duo, Be&See. The Breaks Mix is a dancing piece with a cool bassline, with the exact amount of percussion, a little bit of tech but giving a cool feeling in some moments. The Tek mix has not too many differences from the Breaks mix, maybe only the 4/4 fundament, but it’s good as well. I like Switzerland.

Smash FX: Brainkiller [RR006]Smash FX, a DJ Duo based in Zürich are currently stirring up the town with their packed nights.
Smash FX, a DJ Duo based in Zürich are currently stirring up the town with their packed nights. Wherever they set feet you sure get a dose of perfectly trimmed beats and pumpin’ bass. No wonder the breakbeat scene in Zurich is booming! Smash FX have already created a bit of a hit with their remix of Vostok’s Electro Clash tune „Airplanes“ released earlier this year on the fantastic Swiss Tools EP, also on Ritmic. The Swiss independent label Ritmic has celebrated a couple of singles that had praise singing from the top jocks in the UK and lots of support throughout the continent and the States. From this release onwards Ritmic Records is distributed by Intergroove Germany. Brainkiller is a Sci-Fi-Monster, complete with Old Skool Synths and driving riddems. On the flip you find the truly awesome EK remix perfect for peaktime use. EK appears courtesy of Sound Not Scene / Global Recordings Australia and his mix here has been road tested from Berlin to Brussels and back to Zurich and never failed. The mix has been snapped up by Glen „Future Funk Squad“ for his forthcoming New:Bpm compilation and is according to Johan „Sound of Habib“ his best work to date! Quotes Jody Wisternoff "Amazing beats, energetic stabs, and effective atmospheric samples. This always gets a wicked response" Hyper "Love the EK mix!" Aquasky "Into the remix" 8/10 Annie Nighinghale "Love it!" plays on BBC Radio 1 show Superdense Child (Marble Bar) “Another corking release for ritmic. really solid chuggy dark groove with electro tingles all round, right up my street. this is the best thing i've been sent in quite a while..” 10/10 Johan "Sound Of Habib" Olofsson: "The second breakdown has sent my clubs scream for me..!" Mole (Boombox) Yet more brain bashing breaks from Switzerlands top label! Wicked stuff, full support given" 7/10 Databass (Freakaboom) "Completely into the techier EK remix. best release yet. EK's best remix yet. This stays in the box!" Nubreaks.com (July 2003) If I had to give a release so far this year an award for 'best odd sample', it'd be this one. If you weren't sure who could 'kill a brain', this track will make sure you are well aware before it's over :) While the Original cut is competent breakbeat, with smooth atmospherics, cleanly constructed percussion and some interesting ideas, it just hasn't caught on with my tastes yet. I think the element that bothers me is the structure, it's a bit loose, and care hasn't really been taken to build up to much. While it isn't peak time material, it's also not bad, and I tend to think I just haven't 'got it' yet. EK's remix, on the other hand, restructures things a great deal, adds some drive & a more rolling breakbeat; which means I like it more. The samples are given a really nice treatment, and the overall flow of the cut is smoother & more DJ friendly. Both of these cuts are sure to peak your interest, so don't sleep on 'em! 4/5 Knowledge (UK, May 2003) Just as meaty as Ritmics previous outing is the following Smash FX single, with a futuristic breaks banger also coming with an EK remix. 4/4 (Lurch) XLR8R USA (July 2003) This Zurich duo churns out a sci-fi breakbeat killer that blasts huge synth stabs and vacuum bass, and riddles the driving percussion with drum & bass-style fills. On the flip, EK ups the ante with his remix, keeping the d&b touches while dubbing up the bassline and touching it with some electro. On point, like those watches they make. Ron Nachmann Breakser (Germany, May 2003) Eine durchwegs positive Überraschung der besten Art. NuSkool as NuSkool can. (Arnold Meyer)

Swisstools EP [RR005]We are proud to announce No.5! To celebrate this we teamed up four of the finest breaks producers of Switzerland and one of Europe’s leading grafic designers to bring them together on this EP and reinvent the bloody Swiss army knife!!!
A1 - Downpressor: All We Know With his debut release on Ritmic a few months ago he has set the marks high. This second vinyl outing for Downpressor sees him in a more relaxed and dubby mood. Already getting support from SOTO and Future Funk Squad (who have just finished the remix of this very tune!!), Phantom Beats and more.. A2 - Be&See: Orcise Wayz Hot on the heels of his Remix of “The Meal” he turns the funk knob to eleven and has a laugh while everybody is getting darker and nastier! Punchy beats are joined by a quirky bass and a funky lead synth before he brings in the bells! The Cowbells…..! Different and working very well on the floor too. B1 - Vostok: Airplanes (Smash FX Remix) This track is the debut Vinyl outing for Smash FX and what a corker it is ! German “Erkrankung Durch Musique Records” released the original version by Vostok and this unreleased breakbeat remix has been specially made for this EP. The track will have house and breaks heads scream for more! B2 - Tek Jam & Inzekt: Tenor3 Tek Jam and Inzekt, two long time techno producers and DJs from Switzerland unleash a stunning Lo Fi-Electro track with vocals from Ursula Rucker. Ursula Rucker has just released her Debut Album on K7 and has worked with people like 4Hero, King Britt or The Roots. We were allowed to use the vocals and the result is a very individual hybrid of breaks and electro. Does Tek Jam & Inzekt ring a bell? Well their track “Premiere” was licensed to the first Bedrock Breaks comp mixed by Hyper last year… Quotes Jody Wisternoff (Way Out West): " Nice selection of styles on display. A1 is the track most up my street. Quality production, sounds great on the dancefloor. " Aquasky (Botchit): “Ruff Stuff…good to have it finally on Vinyl! 9/10 Hyper (Kilowatt): “Downpressor's All We Know is the pick of the pops by a long shot” Rich Thair (Red Snapper/Toob): “I love the EP..every track is inspired and i'm playing them all..particularly airplanes + tenor 3” Cedric Benoit (Lab Rock, France): “Good to hear some good breaks tunes from Switzerland!” 10/10 SOTO "excellent, well rounded package, something for everyone! Liking the Downpressor track in particular" 8/10 Darkglobe 9/10 2 Sinners "Straight in the box!" Paul Arnold "played it at Kiss FM show" Mole (Boombox): "Wicked EP Full support!" 8/10 Jean Jacques Smoothie (Hope, Plastic Raygun): "Intelligent Breaks" charted at No.1! Atomic Hooligan "All very nice workable tracks, will stay in my box!" 8/10 Jay Cunning (Breaksfm): “An ep with a good selection of dancefloor tracks on. good radio & club response” Databass (Freakaboom): “Wow! What an amazing collection of tunes!” Will be playing these out a lot” 8/10 Mike Hogan "a top notch selection of beat tomfoolery. Ritmic and Chi are definately ones to watch this year! Alex Southpaw "Downpressor track is lush! nice and dubby! Be&See is pure funk!" 8/10 Loes Lee: "Downpressor: Solid piece of reggae breaks!" Bitesize (Functional Breaks): "One of the best EP’s in Ages!" 9/10 Will Saul: "Some really strong tracks, I particularly liked All We Know by Downpressor!" DJ Mag, UK (No. 38, April/May 2003) Huge respect to the Swiss guys. Ritmic invariably bring on some of the best breaks outside of these shores, sticking to their guns and releasing homegrown talent, and what;s more giving the punters four tracks for their money. Downpressor's 'All We Know' is the pick of the pops by a long shot with farty bass and dub skanks carried along by chugging, bouncy beats. Other contributors include promoter and DJ Smash FX (remixing Vostok's 'Airplanes'), Be & See and Tek Jam and Inzekt's 'Tenor 3'. One label whose packages I always look forward to opening, keep up the excellent work! (Hyper) Knowledge, UK (May 2003) Swiss label, Ritmic deliver another fine release. The Swiss Tools EP covers a broad range of beats, with highlights in the shape of driving dub breaks from Downpressor on ‘All We Know’ and the vocalized broken beats of Tek Jam & Insekt’s ‘Tenor 3’, featuring Ursula Rucker. 4/4 (Lurch) Urban Detour Magazine, Canada (May 2003) This long anticipated 12” from the kings of Swiss breakbeats definitely does not disappoint. It’s contains a track each from Downpressor, Be and See, Vostok, and Tek Jam with Inzekt. The real standout (as usual) is the Be and See, they’re on a real tear lately between this one and the upcoming remix of Ion by rEalm. Their melodic, but still distinctly European sound is always a crowd pleaser. The Downpressor track is awesome too, dubby tech-breaks perfect for layering, or as a stand alone. Definitely a solid 12. (Dylane) Phantom Beats This Swiss label celebrates its fifth release of breakbeat finery with a four-tracker that is a veritable ‘tour de force’ of styles. From the raga-infused riddims of Downpressor’s “All We Know”, through Vostok’s bleepy tribalistic “Airplanes” to Tek Jam & Inzekt’s “Tenor3” (a lo-fi electro style ting), it’s all tied together with fat breakbeats. And damn fine ones at that. The Swiss have more to offer than cheese and multi-purpose knives… Downpressors „All We Know“ überzeugt mit noisigen Off-Beat-Chords, eigenartigem Groove und einem fiesen, tiefen Bass. Muddyloop: The Boomspot [RR004]Hot on the heels of Downpressors amazing debut single comes a new slab of vinyl from Ritmic with a global angle..
A1 Muddyloop: The Boomspot (Original Bedrom Mix) Muddyloop is a producer trio from London and this is one of their earlier, more dancy works. The Boomspot has fallen in the hands of Bengston and travelled around with him and his record box. A twisted house groover that has more than a few breaks influences. A2 Muddyloop: The Boomspot (Fine Cut Bodies Remix) Kevin aka Fine Cut Bodies from Hungary turns in a wonderfully crafted remix that has already enjoyed a lot of praise. Beautyfully layered drums and snippets from the original melt into a dubby soundscape that makes it clear why their Chi Label has enjoyed so much support over the last couple of months! You can tell how much time went into this one and its defo a nice interpretation of the Boomspot! B1 Muddyloop: The Boomspot (Bengston Remix) Flip to the B-Side for the Bengston remix that rolls off in a nice percussive way staying close to the original but taking it all breaks. Rather proggy and rather druggy. This track is made for big systems, you better test and witness! And when you think it’s over…it kicks in again! Quotes Mixmag UK (Feb. 2003) Beautiful echoed soundscapes over flipped out beats work wonders here. Hungary's Fine Cut Bodies turns the original house mix into delicately layered brooding breaks. The Bengston rework keeps the edginess, smoothing it out with a seamless bass, then slicing it up again with a perfect proggy buildup. Solid.

Downpressor: Nine [RR003]Things are busy at Ritmic HQ! Only a few months on the map of and already firing the third release introducing yet another new talent by the name of Downpressor. He has surprised many with some dark as fuck breaks tracks and clever DJ skills. There's already a few labels hunting him for remixes and take it for granted that you'll hear more from him very soon!
Downpressor: Nine (Original Mix) Downpressors debut release has already caused quite a stir with CDRs floating around and DJ-chart appearances throughout the world. His track is a dark peaktime breaks cut perfect for lifting the roof off a club. Downpressor rolls out a tight drum groove, adds a round bass sound which is later joined by rave stabs and choirs. After the atmospheric breakdown it builds and builds causing mayhem on the floor! This has been road tested in Switzerland, Germany and has enjoyed early support from Glen "Future Funk Squad", as well as Loes Lee who loved the track muchly. Downpressor: Nine (Elite Force Remix) On the flip we have sHack from Elite Force providing a deep percussive 4 to the floor remix. It starts off breaky before turning into a stomping groove joined by various percussive elements, clever placed parts from the original and a speaker devastating sub bass. And just when you think it's over it is back again much to the joy of your floor. A fine remix that rounds off this 12 with overwhelming crowd reactions on both sides of the Atlantic… Quotes Muzik UK The third release from Swiss label Ritmic, which is aiming to specialise in underground dance music, namely breaks, tech house and electro, comes from Downpressor, a name you're likely to see a bit more of in the future. The original mix of Nine has a distinct underlying old skool feel to it, with a throbbing bassline, and dark synth riff riding nicely over a rolling break, making good use of the good old Apache break. The flip sees Elite Force in 4/4 mode, turning in a stomping percussive mix for the housier floors.

Bengston: The Meal [RR002]This is the second release from Ritmic Records, a new Swiss label specialising in underground dance music in the fields of breaks, tec house and electro. Behind the label and this release is Bengston, DJ, producer and one of the key players in the Swiss Nu skool breakbeat scene. The first release from Stookie entered the UK beats charts at a fabulous 8th place with many supporters across the board and the one you're holding in your hand did the same thing AGAIN! Both mixes have gained a lot of club and radio play and reviews in several Magazines.
A Side - Bengston: The Meal (Bengston's Tek Mix)
Bengston's own Tek Mix is a basheavy stormer that should appeal to the darker breaks floors and tek house heads alike. It's catchy base hook comes off a dusty MS-20 synth and gives it a certain retro touch.
B Side - Bengston: The Meal (Be&See Breaks Remix) On remix duties we have Be&See, long time breakbeat DJ and producer from Switzerland. He has done remixes for several national bands and has had his first international breaks release on Ian Davy's Battle EP last year. Besides a busy DJ-schedule he works his arse off in the studio, currently writing a soundtrack for a Snowboard-Film. This mix shows why he is heralded as one of Switzerlands best breakbeat talents: He delivers a twisted, floorfilling breaks mix with tight edits, lots of changes, a bit acid here and there and uses the vocal to great effect. This mix has enjoyed the support from Phantom Beats, Stabilizer, Loes Lee and Scissorkicks (who included it for his Live project mix album on Canadian label 2Wars & a revolution). Quotes BREAKSWORLD (July 2002) "Talented Swiss breakbeat artist Be&See turns in a blinding breaks remix of "The Meal" by Ritmic label boss Bengston. Making it into DJ mag's prestigious breaks& beats chart, with heavy support from the likes of DJ Hyper, Aquasky, Future Funk Squad, Scissorkicks (who licensed it for his latest mixed CD) and Mike & Charlie, this is set to be one of the biggest breaks tunes of the summer. Is it the happy upbeat summer vibe? The chunky upfront bassline? The "move ya body" vocal? The bubbly FX? All of this and more is what makes this so hard to resist." 4/5 Helix Hybrid (Distinctive) "Very nice feel and production. Sounds very fat on the dancefloors." 7/10 FFS (En:vision, Default, Y4K) "Dirty dirty business just how I like it!" 9/10 Aquasky (Botchit & Scarper) "The remix is wicked, will be playing it out" 8/10 Evil 9 (Marine Parade) "Rude!" 7/10 Phantom Beats (Plastic Raygun) "Wicked!!! Keep it coming!!!!" 9/10 Stabilizer (Boombox, Plastic Raygun) "Very nice.. I love this tune muchly! will be a begun!" 8/10 Precision Cuts (Groovetech) "Definately one for the bassheads. Gonna tear up the Dance!" 7/10 Vlad Breakneck (TCR) "The tune is runnin'!" Scissorkicks (Plastic Raygun, MBN) "Quality stuff! Been looking forward to the vinyl of this for ages!" 9/10 Decky Headrock (Freakaboom) "Be&See remix blowin' up big time!" 8/10 Filth (Akademia Records) "A Monster!" Will Saul (various) "A very solid two sider that has a nice groove" Dean Mushin (Akademia Records) "Swiss Breaks ruling supreme on the bass front" Peter Kirk (Texas Outlaws) "This is fucking good, like the Tek Mix best." Mikkas (Kiss FM) "Great peaktime material! Really rocks the crowd!" 8/10 Liquidx (Essential) "Hits the spot with the crowd everytime, will be playing this for a long time." 9/10 Ian Davy (Backroom Records) "Top stuff, Be&See rocks!" 8/10 Ann D (Headcharge) "Top tune - great floor reaction!" 10/10 Databass (Freakaboom) "Loving this - off to US soon - will be taking this with me for sure!" 8/10 Madam Breaks "Excellent track, ruff, dirty & a definite ass gigger! Top production." 10/10 Macca (Akademia Records) "Goes off like a big groovy bugger… love it!" 9/10

Stookie: Experiments [RR001]This is the first release from Ritmic Records, a new Swiss label specialising in underground dance music in the fields of breaks, tec house and electro. Behind the label is Bengston, DJ, producer and one of the key players in the Swiss breakbeat scene.
Stookie: Experiments (Original)
The original is a chilled electro tune by Stookie from Basle/Switzerland. He likes them Waldorf instruments and is actually more into Wave/EBM than breaks. Nonetheless he delivers a nice musical track that clocks at 120 bpm and does the business as a great intro/comedown track.
Stookie: Experiments (Future Funk Squad's "Electro Panic" Remix) None other than Glen "FFS" N has been asked to re-groove this track and he proves why he's heralded as one of the leading UK producers. He strips it down to the basic parts, delivering one of his finest remixes, a dancefloor friendly breaks version that maintains the electro feel of the original. Watch that track go down on your floor and you know why both, Tayo and the Plumps were itching to get their testpressing! DJ Hyper says: "I LOVE the record! Fucking awesome electro vibes! More please!" Stookie: Experiments (Frank Murl's Tec Re-Dub) The second remix comes from Frank Murl. He takes it all four to the floor, adding an 80's touch to it Quotes Plump DJ's "Antother deep, chuggy, percussive number that will be very popular with those bored with the farty bassline". DJ Hyper (Kilowatt, Bedrock etc.) "LOVE the record, fucking awesome Electro vibes. More please!" Will Saul (Various) "Heavy but seriously rocking. Definitely kicks right off after the tribal breakdown." Precision Cuts "A funky little roller that's gonna be in the box for sometime. Keep 'em coming!" Scape One "This is absolutely excellent. One of the best Electro records in ages. Combining all the elements - will become a classic." Touche (Wiseguys, Various) "Liking the Frank Murl mix a lot. Nice and twisted stuff." Radio Support comes from Groovetech, Brighton's Cable Radio and London pirate station Ruud Awakening. |
